FLIGHT TO MELBOURNE
Columbia Star For Guineas (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY. October 5. The Sydney colt. Columbia Star, will go to Melbourne tonight by air to run, in the Caulfield Guineas next Saturday week. This was decided today by the owner, Mr I. Caldwell, and the trainer, C. Ryan. The colt ran a great trial for the Guineas in finishing second to Martello Towers in— the George Main Stakes yesterday. Columbia Stay indicated by his game effort yesterday that he should not have any difficulty in running out a mile strongly.
Passive Has Colt Foal (N.Z. Press Association) PALM. NORTH, October 5. A eolt foal by Timanova has been bom to Tendril at the Santa Rosa Stud in Palmerston North. Tendril, the dam of Royal Jester, was purchased last year by the Santa Rosa master. Mr J. A. Mitchell. Mr Mitchell's mare. Passive, recently dropped a colt foal by the top Northern sire. Summertime. In her hey-day Passive swept the board in the three-year-old classics, when prepared at Takanini by F. and G. W. Smith. DERBY FIELD AT ADELAIDE (N .Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ADELAIDE. October 5. The eight final acceptors for the South Australian Derby, of £2OOO, to be run over 12 furlongs at Morphettville racecourse on Saturday, are:— Aramo. Coalta, Court Dandy, Gatum Gatum. King Harold.
