COACHING SCHOOL PUPILS
Recommendation By N.Z. Council (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. October 5. If soccer wanted to progress. the secondary schools had to be supported by official coaches. Mr O. Hilton told a meeting of the New Zealand Football Association’s council this week. The total, playing strength in New Zealand was 23,477 and 259 secondary schools played soccer, he said. These schools fielded 3386 players. The sport's future playing strength lay in the schools and coaches had to be provided. The council received a letter from a Brazilian soccer club which plans to- visit New Zealand next year. The council decided to advise the club of its interest in the proposal, subject tq certain terms.
The council recommended the following referees for international matches: R. W, Cullen, Christchurch: F. M. Plant. Masterton; M. Swain. Wellington; A. Williams, Dunedin.
