All 8400 employees stood down, for periods ranging from five to 13 days, because of suspended production at four General Motors-Holdens Pty., Ltd., plants, will be reemployed by tomorrow, the company announced. Today 3000 returned to work at the Fishermen’s Bend plant in Victoria, and tomorrow 3900 employees will return to work in two South Australian plants. General Motors - Holdens managing director, Mr Harlow Gage, said today he did not envisage any more retrenchments.

On September 25, 1500 workers resumed work in Sydney.
