FORBURY RAIL

Harold Park Design A new running rail, based on the design used at Harold Park. Sydney, will be erected on the Forbury Park raceway. The new rail will be one of a number of improvements the Forbury Park Trotting Club has made at the course since its change to night trotting. The present structure is of wood, with a hub rail running around the bottom and a wooden rail around the top. It has been recommended that this be replaced with a wooden rail fastened to steel plates welded to pipe standards set about 9ft apart. The standards will be bent, so that the running rail will be three or four inches further out on the track at the top than the hub board. This Will allow the track maintenance machines to work the running portion of the track right in, and will prevent ridging, which might affect drainage.
