Maple Peas Easier
With the pigeon racing season ended, most merchants hold fair stocks of maple peas, reports the produce department of the Bank of New Zealand from London. As considerable quantities were still held in New Zealand, prices have eased, with J only a limited amount of 1 buying for shipment. i During the last two , months, business has taken place in No. 1 New Zealand 1 maples including surplus i supplies from the 1960 har- ] vest as well as the 1961 crop , —to Belgium and to United Kingdom ports at from 43s , to 42s per cwt., c.iX, for ship- • ments from September-Oeto- ■ ber up to December-Janu- , I ary. Trading has begun in , new crop No. 1 for subse- : I quent shipments. I Spot values for New Zea- ' land maple peas have given ■ way with cheaper arrivals , and parcels in store are now offered at 46s 6d to 47s fld , per cwt according to sample. Ryegrass Prospects Certified mother seed of perennial ryegrass was reported during August as being down to 82s fid and permanent pasture at 80s per -cwt, c.i.f., for shipment from (New Zealand. Sellers have since raised their prices to 'loos and 97s fid respectively 'but some exporters are prepared to lake 5s per cwt. 'less. The future market [however, win largely depend on the largg and good harvest in Northern Ireland this year. White clover mother seed from New Zealand declined to 410 s and PP. to 4055, c.i.f.
