RIVERINA’S TOUR
Win In Last Match
(NZ. Press Association) AVtXUiND, October 1. The New South Wales Rugby League team. Riverina, scored its first win in the last match of its fourmatch tour against Glenora at Carlaw Park today. Riverina won, 37-16, scoring seven tries and eight goals to four tries and two goals by Glenora. The full-back, J. Jones, was in grand form with his goal kicking and scored 16 points Riverina moved straight into the attack and played the best football of its tour It led 11-2 midway through the first- spell but allowed Glenora to overhaul it just before the interval. Glenora was aheed by two points at half-time. 13-11. Points for Riverina came from tries by C. Bull (2). L French. J Lumsden, R Campbell, R. Gourley, R Beaven. J. Jones kicked five conversions and three penalty goals. F. Karika (2), E. Carson and J Collins scored tries for Glenora and W Sorensen kicked a conversion and a penalty goal. Eastern Districts, the champion Auckland team, beat Riverina by 38 points to 12 at Carlaw Park on Saturday. Eastern played with only 11 players for most of the match.
Two forwards, A. Gemmell and W. Woolsey, were ordered off Just before the end of the first half. Both appeared to dispute a decision by the referee, Mr A Taylor. Riverina failed to cross the Eastern line. Eastern led 15-8 at half-time. .
For Eastern, G. Phillipa (2). T. Lye (2). R. Longergan (2), B. Campbell and Wright scored tries Phillips converted six and kicked a penalty goal Jones kicked six penalty goals for Riverina.
