ARMY EXERCISE AT WAIOURU

Rocket Attack Bv Vampires Planned (NZ Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 27. A low-level dawn rocket attack by R.N.Z.A.F. Vampires will open the second phase of the Army’s regular field force exercise at Waiouru on Wednesday. October 4. “Exercise Evaluate” is designed to test the operational efficiency of the Ist Battalion, New Zealand Regiment, before it leaves for Malaya later this year. It will also give the regular field force practice in basic battle and deployment procedures, maintenance in the field and co-operation between all branches of the Army. Live ammunition will be used on a large-scale exercise for the first time since the Second World War.
