Clarke Misses Kicks (NZ: Press Association) HAMILTON. Sept. 24. Waikato beat Taranaki at Rugby Park this afternoon by 14 points to 3 after leading, 8-0. at half-time. The game was played in fine weather on a good ground before a crowd of 5000 Waikato was clearly superior in all departments and the margin would have been much bigger if D Clarke had been on kicking form. He missed seven chances, but played a fine game. After 30 minutes, in which Waikato did most of the attacking and Clarke missed three penalty attempts. two from inside the twenty-five. Clarke came into a blinds:de back attack and h? charged through for a good try wide out. He failed to! convert Waikato then scored a beautiful back try, all the backs including Clarke handling twice for Cathro to cross. Again Clarke failed to convert. The half-time score was 6-0. Ten minutes after halftime. R. Pickering scored a well-deserved solo trv and Clarke converted with his sevendj attempt at goal. J. W. Riley scored a good try after Clarke again came into the back-line. but Clarke failed to convert A good break by McCullough gave P Bishop a fine try, but Briscoe failed to convert.

The final score was Waikato 14, Taranaki 3.
