450 Places At Wellington <N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. The Government has approved the preparation of working drawings for a new teachers’ college at Donald street, Karori, Wellington, the Minister of Education (Mr Tennent) announced. “The new college will be planned to provide accommodation for 450 students,” said Mr Tennent. “It will comprise lecture rooms, rooms for arts and crafts, English, music, nature study, and physical education, a library, and an assembly hall plus administrative and staff facilities. “The new college will considerably increase the number of students under training, and help in overcoming the teacher shortage,” he said. “On the opening of the college, it is proposed that the roll of the present college at Kelburn be reduced to a number in keeping with the facilities available there.”
