TINGEY SALES RISE
Returns For Five Months “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. The chairman of directors of R. and E. Tingey and Company, Ltd., Mr Percy Tingey, told the annual meeting of the company that the company's returns for the first five months of the current year, to August 31, showed an increase over those for the corresponding period of the previous year. He congratulated the company on the remodelling of its Manners street shop, which was better than any oil, colour, paint and wallpaper shop he had seen in his recent world tours, including Great Britain, Europe, the United States of America, Canada and South Africa. The whole of the trade in New Zealand had displays and showrooms that were a credit to the country. Rise of Synthetics
Big changes were taking place in the industry, exemplified by the virtual displacement of white lead and linseed oil by synthetic materials, and the company must adapt itself to the changes, he said. An extraordinary general meeting confirmed the directors’ recommended capital changes. The nominal capital of the company is increased from £500,000 to £750,000
