FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation.—A very deep depression lies to the south of New Zealand; a ridge of high pressure lies to the north of New Zealand and a disturbed westerly airstream covers the country. Forecast:— Marlborough.—North-westerlies, strong to gale force about Cook Strait, fresh elsewhere; a few isolated showers, otherwise fine; temperatures moderate. Outlook: similar conditions. Nelson.—Winds from the westerly quarter, strong in some exposed northern places; occasional showers, mainly in the western ranges; moderate temperatures. Outlook: showers. West Coast.—Fresh to strong westerlies; cloudy, with periods of rain; temperatures moderate. Outlook: showers. Canterbury.—Fresh west to north-west winds, strong in some exposed inland places; showers in the Alps, partly cloudy elsewhere, apart from a few isolated showers; mild temperatures. Outlook: similar conditions.
