WELLINGTON. Sept 20 Northland had its thirteenth successive win when it beat Wellington, 8-5. In an exciting, although ragged match at Athletic Park toJ dav.
It was the first time Wellington has been beaten at Athletic Park since early in the 1959 season, when the Rritish Isles team won, 21-6. S 1?,. last Province to beat Wellington at Athletic Park was Auckland in 1958 Outstanding for Northland today were the full-back. M Walters, the second fiveeighth. E. J. Thompson, the half-back, L J. Townsend, and in the forwards, D. Hewitt. E B Dean. K M ?lPhy. and P. F. H. Jones. Wellington’s best plavers were C. J. Stewart and T. , ■ Heens in the backs, and I N. Mac Ewan and R H Horslev in the forwards. A - J Bennett and E. J. Thompson scored tries for Northland, one of which Thompson converted For Wellington, a try was scored by C. Currie, converted by J. R. Watt.
