LYNDON-WAIAU W.D.F.F.

Variety Concert Held A variety concert was held by the Lyndon-Waiau branch of the women’s Division of Federated Farmers recently in the Waiau hall when abou* 300 attended.

The programme was arranged by Mrs R. Bell, and included Maori hakas. canoe song and poi dance; a can-can dance, and a demonstration of dancing through the ages from the minuet to the creep Dutch tap dances were given, and two sketches. Another sketch was a skit on television. Miss L Anderson and Mr K. Cutten gave vocal items, accompanied by Mrs Cutten.

Mrs Eileen Earl gave a monologue. The final item was called “Hands across the Sea” when participants appeared in costumes of 20 countries.

Mrs K. Kidd performed the highland fling, accompanied by Mr A. Galletly on the bagpipes.

The programme was compered by Mr W. W. Gillespie The W.D.FJ’. president (Mrs H. Belton) thanked those taking part. More than £5O was raised It will go towards subsidising the W.D.F.F. housekeeper scheme and general administrative costs of the LyndonWaiau branch. The concert will be repeated at the end of this month when proceeds will be divided between the W.D.F.F. and the Waiau Swimming Club.
