Crippled Children’s Competiton

A first prize and several seconds and thirds were won by children in the care of the Canterbury and West Coast ■ branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society in a national interbranch handcraft competition organised l>y the Wanganui branch.

In the toy section, 10 to 12 years, K. fhrall was first equal Miss V. Shadbolt was second in the same section for 13 to 15 years, while Misses D. Thorne and J Taylor were second and third equal respectively in the knitting section for 13 to 15 years. Miss A. Baker was third in the embriodery section for 10 to 12 years, and Miss D. Gentles took third prize in the knitting for 16 to 18 years. Miss I. Bowden won a special prize for homespun, home-dyed. Miss E Law was highly commended in the “other exhibits” section for seven to nine years. A. Grant being commended in the same section for 10 to 12 years.
