RESUMED RACING
First For Five Years
Santa Armada gave promise of a successful come-back to racing after an absence of more than five years when she finished third in the 3min 48sec class pace at the trials held by the Canterbury Trotting Owners' and Breeders’ Association at Addington on Tuesday. San'a Armada, which is now 11, had not raced since May, 1956. Although she won only one race, the Duvauchelle Handicap at Motukarara in October, 1955, Santa Armada displayed a lot of ability earlier in her career. She began racing at two and in her first three seasons was placed in nine of her 16 races.
The day Santa Armada won the Duvauchelle Handicap her sister. Sierra Madre. was runner-up. Both are daughters of U.' Scott and the Jack Potts mare, Santa Anita. They are both raced by their. Yaldhurst breeder, Mr B. Lynskey, Sierra Madre, an acceptor for the Mount Harding Handicap at Methven on Saturday, contested two races last season and was runner-up in both.
Her only race this season was the Introductory Handicap, in which she lost all chance by tangling at the start, at New Brighton on September 2.
