MEETING-HOUSE EXTENSIONS
Maoris To Consider Platts
The extension of facilities at the Rehua Maori meetinghouse in Springfield road will be considered by a meeting of Canterbury Maoris to be held at the meeting-house on October 15. The superintendent of the Christchurch Methodist Central Mission (the Rev. W. E. Falkingham) said that such extensions had been envisaged at the time the meetinghouse was built last year.
New facilities at present included a newdining hall and kitchen, both to be erected near the meet-ing-house. Further details of design and finance would be discussed at the meeting. Lack of accommodation had prevented the holding of many larger functions. When completed the new extensions would more fully serve the whole Maori community, Mr Falkingham said.
