COMMERCIAL Australian Shares Rise In N.Z. Trading
Australian shares made twice as many gains as losses in New Zealand trading yesterday. New Zealand shares lost their firmer trend of earlier in the week and the tone of the market was uncertain.
1 he most notable rise of the day was the train of 3s 6d to 9s 6d by Otago Farmers, in first business since the withdrawal of the proposals restricting transfer of the shares. Northern Roller Milling and Transport (Nelson) and Swinton and Oates were also much firmer. A. S. Paterson and Consolidated Brick showed the biggest losses among New Zealand shares.
Huddart Parker were again fractionally firmer at 20s 2d. Other rises and falls among Australian shares were mainly small.
