GRANTS TO TEACHERS
16 Travelling
Fellowships (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Sept. 20. Travelling fellowships to a total value of £B5OO will be awarded next year by the Woolf Fisher Trust to 16 selected teachers in New Zealand, according to an announcement by the Minister of Education (Mr Tennent) tonight. The allocation of the fellowships will be as follows: Six teachers of chemistry to attend a refresher course at the University of New South Wales in January. 1962. to be absent for three weeks. One headmaster and two teachers in technical education to visit Sydney and Melbourne for four weeks in term. Three teachers of geography to visit metropolitan, industrial and rural areas of New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland for three weeks during the summer vacation. Two teachers of French to visit France and to be absent for 10 weeks.
Two headmasters of postprimary schools to visit'the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe for a period of 12 weeks.
