“DIED FOR MANKIND”

Sir John Walsh Pays Tribute (N2, .Press Association) . WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. “This man did not die for his country; he died for mankind,” the president of the United Nations Association of New Zealand, Sir John Walsh, said today in a tribute to Mr Hammarskjold. “There is a deep sense of shock, a profound sorrow at the untimely passing of a world leader on whom so much responsibility rested at this time. “He was that rare combination, a man of determined action and a man of good will. The world has lost a great man blit we cannot yield to despair. “We must resolve, as never before, to dedicate ourselves to the cause in which he gave his last full measure of devotion. The work of the United Nations goes on,” Sir John Walsh said.
