A Tai Tapu Building
Sir, —I understand a wintering shed for upwajds of 100
cows is to be erected in the middle of Hunt’s subdivision. Tai-Tapu. In a county where residential ratepayers are treated like poison if they dare question the decisions of a farmers’ council elected by plural vote, it would not surprise me if they have granted permits for such a shed. From past experience I doubt that the information would be supplied by the county-council. I shall probably be accused of shortsightedness for endeavouring to safeguard the health of my family and the devaluation of my property. Recently a New York correspondent was critical of stagnation in New Zealand under socialism. I eould show him a half century . of stagnation in Halswell.' perpetrated by a group strongly opposed to socialism in any form.—Yours, etc., THE SLUM BUILDERS. Sept. 15. 1961. [The Halswell County Clerk (Mrs R. Ballantine) said: “No permit has been issued to date for the type of building suggested by the correspondent.”]
