Kight Of Way At Carlton Bridge
Sir.—The decision of Mr E. S. J. Crutchley, S.M.. ■hat traffic coming from Carlton Mill road to the Carlton bridge intersection should give way to traffic from the left, is an ex’retnely strange one as he ignores the marks on the road. What is the use of them, then? According to the present decision, traffic from Carlton Mill road will, have to give way to raffle from the right and ’rom the left. How will hey ever get across? Fol’owing the marks on the •oad, traffic from Carlton Mill road HAS already urned to the right by the time it stops to give way to raffle from Harper avenue, md therefore traffic from Sealey avenue should give way to traffic from Carlton Mill road. From the Road Code I understand that the raffle law. compels one to "ollow road markings and herefore the Magistrate Canlot ignore them. 1 would like to hear the comments >f the Transport Department in the ruling of the Magistrate. as I‘ pass this in ersection daily.—Yours, etc., N. C. LAMBRECHTSEN. September 2, 1951. [The chairman of the Christchurch City Council traffic Committee (Cr. M. E. McLean) says that a'recommendation concerning this intersection will be before the council at its meeting today.]
