Yarra Falls Bid

For John Brown (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, September 18. Yarra Falls, Ltd., woolcombers, spinners and weavers, has made a share bid for the issued capital of John Brown Industries, Ltd., worth nearly/ £500,000 at current market prices. John Brown manufactures men’s and boys' wear.

The offer is two Yarra Falls £1 ordinary shares for every five 5s ordinary shares in John Brown.

At yesterday’s price for Yarra Falls shares of 18s the offer is worth 7s 2d for each John Brown share, which had latest sales at 7s 6d.

Consolidated Press.—Consolidated Press Holdings. Ltd., public company for the Sydney "Daily Telegraph” group, earned lower net profit of £348,850 last year (£410,244) in its latest year to June 30. Profit is after £210,771 (£237,514) for taxation and £172,987 (£167,031) depreciation.
