Experiment On Cow

(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. Sept. 19. Miss M. B. Howard (Opposition, Sydenham) asked the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Hayman) in the House of Representatives today whether he had seen a picture in a weekly paper showing a cow being used at Massey College for experimental purposes. ”A hole big enough for the insertion of a hand has been cut right through the outer walita of the skin and muscle, enabling the scientists easy access to the animal’s stomach,” she said. “A rubber bung is used to keep the hole open. In other cases a plastic panel has been inserted to toe stomach for a similar purpose. Does this come under the question of cruelty?” Miss Howard asked.
