A native “god” chief 'amed Mirakata. who ruled over 9000 people in the Trohriand Islands, off the eastern “P of Papua, has died, aged -bout 75 He enjoyed absolute power and _ his subjects had to "rostrate themselves before in whenever he left his hut. ■ic never worked, and all his "ant# were provided by the people of his village. He is survived by 13 wives. ’’ children and an estimated 40 grandchildren.
