Rider* in the cash code raced over 50 mile* from Halswell to Southbrtdge and return. The race proved a triumph for K. Brown. who, riding from scratch, went through th* field to take first place and fastest time. On the outward run the riders had to contend with a head wind and a little rain. The riders to reach the turn first were the two veterans L. Amst and C. Willcox, They were then only 15min ahead of th* scratch men. who had gathered in the 33- and sJminute bunches. At the turn the scratch men had made up 19 minute* on their handicap. In the final eprint for the major places Brown came through to win from R. Craig off two minutes by 38 seconds. Results were:— K. Brown (scr) 2:1:55, 1; R. Craig (2min) 3:3:16, 2; J Cummings (2min) 2:4:56 3; P. Cook (7jmln) 2:10:12, 4: D Hewer (9mfn) 2:11:13 5: A. Howison (71min) 2:11:50. 6: L. Arnst (34 min) 2:39:4. 7; A. Shaw (26min) 2:40:11, 8. Fastest Time.—K. Brown (scr) 2:1:55.
