DINE AND DANCE

Dental Association Function A dine-and-dance evening for members and their wives was held by the Canterbury branch of the Dental Association at Riccarton House on Saturday evening. Guests were received by the president of the branch (Mr J. L. Wood) and Mrs Wood. They included the Chancellor of the University of Canterbury (Mr C. H. Perkins) and Mrs Perkins; the president ot the Christchurch branch of the Society of Accountants (Mr K. R. Jordan) and Mrs Jordan; and the president of the Canterbury branch of the British Medical Association (Dr. A. C. Sandston) and Mrs Sandston. Almond blossom and camellias had been Arranged in big bowls, and on the tables were arrangements of red, pink and white camellias, white hyacinths and tall, thin white candles.

Mrs Wood wore a strapless sheath dress with a matching back-buttoning jacket of orchid pink embroidered French satin. Mrs Perkins chose a deep blue dress, made on slim lines and featuring elbow length sleeves and a high neckline. It was finished with a diamente brooch at the shoulder. The committee responsible for the evening included Messrs Wood (president), J. H. Power (secretary), T. C. Satchell and H. B. Drinnan. The committee responsible for the floral arrangements included Mesdames Wood, N. Ackroyd, R. H. Mottram and J. Hayman.
