HAIRSTYLES AND HATS

Display In City Store

Hairdressing and millinery got together in the window of a city store yesterday and a group of interested shoppers watched a bouffant hairstyle being created to ftt inside the latest bouffant hats.

The hair was swept round on to the cheeks, covering the ears and finishing with two crescent r rls. Backcombing piled it high on the crown. The hats featured mainly narrow brims, occasionally almost disappearing in a fine line of piping and sometimes becoming important when they gave the hat its line. A versatile satin hat for town-wear, was shown. This had a high, rounded crown that could be folded in many different ways above a twoinch stitched brim. To offset the hats, the model wore a slender, tailored suit of junior navy silk shantung with a belted waistline and a high rounded neckline. The name of the hairstyle created was “Ligne Novice.”
