UNIVERSITY VACANCIK THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED STUDIES RESEARCH SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES APPLICATIONS are invited for a Research Fellowship in the Department of History. The Department. under Professor Sir Keith Hancock has concentrated hitherto, on the study of the history of Australia and of the British Commonwealth. To broaden tire work of the Department a new Research Fellowship has been created. ApSlicants with qualifications in todern European History will be given the highest priority. The salary will be within a range. at present £A1625£A2450. Appointment will be for three years, with possible extension to five years. Superannuation is on the F.S.S.U. pattern. THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND LECTURER OR SENIOR LECTURER IN PHYSIOLOGY Applications are invited for the above mentioned position. The Department of Physiology, wlilch Is at present expanding, offers courses in two faculties and within the Faculty of Science teaches to honours and post graduate level. An applicant with general or specific training in Physiology and qualifications In either Science. Veterinary Science. Medicine or Agricultural Science will be considered for the position. The Department Is however particularly Interested in developing Its courses in general and comparative mammalian physiology and the biophysical aspects of physiology. The successful applicant will be expected to assist in the teaching of second and third year students in the Faculty of Science and to continue his own line of research or to join one of the research projects already in progress. Salary for a Lecturer Is within the range £A1730 x £los— and for a Senior Lecturer £A2550 x £loo £A3OOO pa. In addition cost of living adjustments at present amount to £A49. The salary for overseas applicants commences from the date of embarkation and fares of applicant and family are paid together with a removal allowance of £A3OO. Registrar. 2340 THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND SENIOR LABORATORY TECHNICIANLABORATORY TECHNICIAN Applications are invited for a position of Senior Laboratory Technician—Laboratory Technician in the department of agronomy in the Faculty of Rural Science. One position is available and duties will include either (a) assisting with the laboratory work of the department and attending experimental plants growing under controlled environmental conditions; or (b) assisting with field and glasshouse experiments with pastures and crops, depending on the appointment made. The commencing wage will be fixed according to qualifications and experience, up to £A26 13s 6d per week for males, and £ A 22 15s for females for Laboratory Technicians, and up to £A3O 16s 5d per week for Senior Laboratory Technicians. Four weeks' annual leave; liberal sick leave and long service leave. Fares will be paid and removal expenses up to £A2OO. In-service training may be undertaken towards a diploma in science technology.
