EXPANSION PLAN
Ford’s Offer For Philco (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK, Sept. 14. The Ford Motor Company planned to acquire the Philco Corporation in an exchange of stock that would involve about 100 million dollars the '“New York Times” reported today. The deal would make Ford competitive with General Motors Corporation in tile space and defence production fields as well as the home appliance field, the newspaper said. The emqrman of the Ford Motor Company, Mr Henry Ford, and the president of Philco, Mr James Skinner, signed an agreement yesterday and the directors of both companies agreed in principle to the terms of the plan. It is subject to the approval of Philco stockholders.
