A limited amount of business in small seeds had been done with overseas buyers in.
the last jyeelLon-the bSsis of last’ week’s price levels, the president of the North Canterbury Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants' Association (Mr I. A. Baxter) said yesterday. A few more inquiries were being received and the market was possibly showing a fractional firming. Shipping is a little better for potatoes but there is still limited business and reduced prices about on a par with last week. Demand is reasonably good for top quality seed potatoes. The following range of prices were announced as a guide to the grower by Mr Baxter:—
Ryegrass.—Mother perennial, 10s 6d a bushel; p.p., 10s; uncertified, 8s 6d; mother H 1, Ils; standard, 10s 6d; uncertified, 8s 6d; mother Italian, Ils 6d; standard, 10s 6d
White Clover.—Mother 99/99, 3s 3d per lb; p.p. 3s Id; mother 98 90. 3s Id; p.p, 3s
Cowgrass.—ls 6d per lb (nominal).
Ost) Holdings.—Osti Holdings. Ltd, lingerie manufacturers, will pay a steady 15 per cent dividend after a small profit rise for the latest financial year. Net profit rose £1523 to £71.000, after tax provision of £50,000 (last year £5O 880) and higher depreciation £42.000 (£23.371 for I96O)—N.Z.PA.
