TROTTING ROBIN DUNDEE PICKED FOR WIN
Main Sprint Event At New Brighton
The Southland mare, Robin Dundee, will be a popular fancy for the T. E. Johnston Handicap, the main sprint race at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s September meeting today.
Robin Dundee, which has shown somp of her best form on easy tracks, will have conditions to suit her at New Brighton, where a fortnight ago she beat all but True Guest over two miles. She should be an even better mare this week and it will be most surprising if she fails to make a bold showing.
Dark Wonder finished a good fourth over 13 furlongs at Addington last month after making all the pace. He found two miles too tar for him on thia track a fortnight ago, but now he has returned to sprinting he should be harder to beat. He has plenty of ability and looks ready to give a good account of himself. Urrall was desperately unlucky when third over two miles a fortnight ago as he was badly checked near the home turn. He is close to his peak and should earn some of the stake. Admit, Calumite, Regal Duchess. Yare and Young Kim ere other capable sprinters engaged on the front mark. Latest, an unlucky runner in recent weeks, will start on his own on 12 yards. He will be
bracketed with Sharwalo. Latest appeals most of the pair and could well gain an overdue win.
Some smart pacers are engaged on 24 yards, but if the pace is solid all the way, they will be hard pressed to get near the front markers. Massacre, Sally Boy and Sentimental appeal most of the back markers. The double will be run on the Henry Mace and Seaview Handicaps. Johnny Guitar. Diamond Hanover and Sun Chief are a likely trio for the first leg, but several others, including Ceremonial, Gildirect, Mulgrove, Gay Baron. Teryman and Aquaplane, are assured of solid support in an open race. The 'King Hal-BaUista bracket will dominate the second leg. They will not have things their own way
and can expect determined opposition from among Seafield Lad. Highland Custom, Kingsdown Patch, Mighty Mina, Jay Ar, Schnapps and Pacemaker, all of which have raced well lately. There was some drying yesterday and the track should have improved. Even so it will be dead today. Fair weather is forecast.
