Lighting In Primary Schools

Sir, —I hope that the School Committees’ Association will not accept as final the Canterbury Education Board’s decision that it is unable to carry out a survey of lighting in primary schools at present. Board officials do not say when they will be able to borrow a light-meter and send it on tour on dull mornings but in view of the simplicity of such a proceeding I invite them to explain just what is holding them back. 1 also invite the local branch of the N.Z.E.I. and the Health Department to explain why they have not insisted on such a survey years ago in view of the poor lighting conditions which both bodies know to exist in many schools.— Yours, etc., CONCERNED PARENT.
