REFUSAL TO APPEAR
Horses For TV Show
"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, Sept. 13. Tina and Nugget showed the other evening that horses can be led to a television studio but they cannot be made to appear before cameras. The, two horses had been invited—with their owners, Miss Judy Alder and Miss Rosemary Spence, of the St. Heliers Bay Pony Club—to be interviewed in a sports news telecast from Channel 2. They mounted the front steps of the IYA building with the confidence of seasoned broadcasters and waited amid pot plants and chairs in the foyer. Mr Paul Grinwis, a ballet producer, was being interviewed in the studio. Mr Grinwis was taken aback when Tina, a large chestnut mare, tried to enter the door as he was leaving. When she saw the brilliant studio arc lights over Mr Grinwis’s shoulder her eagerness waned. She sprang back, knocked over a small pot plant and •narrowly missed treading on startled spectators. In spite of the blandishments of tbsir owners neither horse would approach the door again. The two were led from the building in disgrace.
