Moves In Indian Parliament

India's Lower House of 'Parliament has rejected a Communist demand that India should leave the Commonwealth if Britain joined the European Common Market. The Upper House vetoed a similar Communist move earlier this week, reported the Associated Press. Several members advocated that India diversify its trade, and seek closer economic collaboration with Asian and African countries, against possible British entry into the EXC. The Finance Minister, Mr Mararji Desai, said British entry would create difficulties for India, but he hoped that her exports to the present Common Market countries would Increase. »
