“DISCIPLINED ADVENTURE”
Y.M.C.A.’s Third Youth Camp
Arrangements for the third "disciplined adventure" camp to be held by the Young Men's Christian Association at Waiouru in January are well under way. according to a report from the association’s Dominion headquarters. The second such camp held last January was also held at Waiouru. The first camp was held in the Wairait Valley. The course, designed for leadership training of young men between the ages of 15 and 19, aims to equip them with the knowledge and experience suitable for organising tramping and camping in New Zealand conditions. The forthcoming summer course will cover such aspects as equipment, firstaid, catering and practical experience of rock climbing, river crossings, tramping, survival trips and mountain rescue. The association asks youth organisations who have young men interested in this camp to approach the national Y.MC.A. in Wellington for further information.
Embargo on Insecticides.— Complete agreement with the action of the Minister of Agriculture in placing an embargo on the use at certain insecticide* on New Zealand farms has been »ignified by the Meat Board and its electoral committee, says the chairman of the electoral committee, Mr F. E. Humphreys, emphasising the danger of injury to the reputation of New Zealand meat from any suggestion of contamination.—(PA.)
