TESTING OF BOMBS

Presbyterian Concern (NX Press Association) DUNEDIN, Sept. A A telegram urging the Government to use its influence in calling on the Western Powers to refrain from resuming nuclear tests, has been sent to the Prime Minister by the international relations committee of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. At a meeting in Dunedin at the week-end, the committee instructed the convener, the Rev. Owen Robinson, to forward the telegram, the text of which is:— "The international relations committee of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand urges the Government to use all its influence in calling on the Western Powers to do nothing hasty in the matter of resuming nuclear tests. "Throughout the world there is a growing tide of opinion against any tests by any nation. We believe that restraint at this time could well give the West a diplomatic and moral victory of great importance as the nations of the world turn in revulsion from the Soviet”
