Girl Found Dead
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, September 4. Anne Elizabeth Hawkins, aged two, of 9 Constitution street. Port Chalmers, was found dead in the backyard of her home at 4.30 p.m, today. The girl had been attempting to climb through a fence when the hat she was wearing caught on the top wire of the fence. It is believed that the pressure of the hat strap on her throat strangled the girl when she attempted to free herself.
Road . Improvements.— Stabilised melal will be laid on Hasketts road from Bloggs Bros, pit to Yaldhurst road, the Paparua County Council decided last evening. The job will cost between £BOO and £9OO.
