Polio Upsurge Alarms N.S.W.
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) SYDNEY, Sept. 1. A sudden upsurge of poliomyelitis in New South Wales is alarming health authorities. In the last two months the incidence of the disease has increased more than 75 per cent, on the first six months of the year, the Health Department announced today. Since July. 21 confirmed cases have been reported from throughout the State and three persons, including a seven-year-old girl, have died from the disease. In the six months before July, only five cases were reported—none ‘ of them fatal.
