Post Office Services
Sir, —I note in “The Press” an advertisement by the Post Office, advising the public to use the suburban post offices. I have been using the one at the southern end of the city, and during the last few months on several occasions I have not been able to obtain what I wanted in the way of stamps and postal orders. I am not the only one who was refused something. Why can not the post offices have a more adequate supply in stock or maybe a map on the wall showing the positions of all the present suburban offices, so that people Could go a couple of miles out of their way in the event of one post office not having their requirements?—Yours, etc., J.S.
August 29, 1961. [The Chief Postmaster (Mr C. J. C. Simpson) said; —“In the southern area of the city restricted Post Office services are available in a shop, but plans are now being completed for the construction of a new Post Office in Colombo street, Beckenham, to provide a full range of Post Office facilities. Meantime, postal notes and stamps are available at any of the following offices in tihe southern area: Sydenham Post Office, Colombo street; Princess Margaret Hospital Post Office; Hoon Hay Post Office, Sparks road; Spreydion Post Office, Selwyn street; Hilimorton Post Office, Boon Hay road. British postal-orders are obtainable from Sydenham and Spreydon Post Offices”]
