Rough Seas Off N.Z.
(N.Z, Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 28. The Matson liner Monterey was four hours late arriving at Auckland at noon today after battling heavy seas off the coast of New Zealand The chief officer, Mr E. R. Vessey, said it was the worst Tasman crossing he bad experienced in the 18,000-ton linei;. Forty-foot waves battered the ship and the stabilisers did little to comfort the passengers. There was no damage to the ship and no injury to passengers.
