BLUE LODGE AMISS

Recovering From Cold

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, August 28. The New Zealand galloper. Blue Lodge, has a cold, but his owner, Mr L. Donald, does not thing it is serious and hopes the horse can work at Flemington tomorrow. Blue Lodge will open his spring campaign in Australia in the Whittier Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday. He has been handicapped at 9-2 and will be ridden by C. McLaughlin. The first appearance of Blue Lodge at Caulfield on Saturday will attract much interest. He is equal third favourite for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. He has 8-12 in the Caulfield Cup and 8-13 in the Melbourne Cup. The trainer, R. Shaw, said today that Aquanita would start in the Whittier Handicap instead of the Memsie Stakes on Saturday. A poor showing in the J. J. Liston Stakes at Flemington caused a change in Lord’s proposed spring programme and he will run in the Memsie Stakes. Lord will be ridden by B. Wilson on Saturday and will be attempting to win his fourth successive Memsie stakes.
