Squash CHRISTCHURCH CLUB

Gair Wins A Grade Final

Finding his best form, H. S. Gair retained his- A grade championship title when the Christchurch Squash Rackets Club held its championship finals on Thursday night. Gair beat R. G. Pattinson in four sets. It was only Pattlnson’s second loss of the Christchurch season in competitive, squash, and in view of Gair’s indifferent recent form the result was a major surprise. But Gair, after losing the first set. gave one of his best displays in the next three, playing extremely tight squash and making vgry few mistakes. Pattinson found himself running niore than usual and he could not hold his usual command of the court position. He was given few chances to display his touch game, and. forced to play many of his shots from deep and near to the walls, he made more errors than usual. Results were:— A Grade.—H. S. Gair beat R. G. Pattinson. 3-9, 9-5. 9-7, 9-5. B Grade.—D. D. M. Stewart beat C A. McDonald, 9-4, 10-9, 0-9, 5-9, 9-7. C Grade.—P. D. Preston beat R. Wait 9-5. 7-9, 9-4, 9-4.
