“Meat Trade Affected” (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 22. The fate of New Zealand’s oversees trade in meat could be determined by the ownership of freezing works, the chairman of the Meat Board (Mr J. D. Ormond) told the meeting of the electoral committee today. As far back as 1922 Mr David Jones had stressed the importance of producer-own-ership. In 1932 Mt Henry Acland had reiterated its importance. “Today it is still a very serious matter,” said Mr Ormond. The sale .during the Second World War of the Ocean Beach and the Longburn freezing works to private ownership had been a mistake that was now regretted.
