QUEENSLAND WINS

S. Canterbury ( Beaten, 5-0 (N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, August 22. The Queensland hockey team scored a decisive win, 5-0, over South Canterbury on a firm gound at West End Park today. Queensland was a betterknit team, and the speed of its attack at times spreadeagled the South Canterbury defence. The home forwards were often guilty of blind passing, which enabled the visitors to turn defence into attack swiftly. After about 12 minutes. Queensland crowded the South Canterbury goal and from a melee, the insideright, I. Millett, scored. Soon after, the Queensland centre-forward, M. Pirie. gave the South Canterbury goalkeeper no chance with a powerful shot. Then Milled again netted to make the score 3-0 at half-time.

The Queensland right-half. D. Argus, was awarded a goal from a penalty bully early in the seebnd half. Pirie closed the visitors’ account with the best goal of the match, beating four men in the process.
