Billiards N.Z. AMATEUR TITLE
Twohill Retains Both Lives (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 22. W. Harcourt (Wellington), the defending champion, was hard pressed by E. Simons (Canterbury) before he retained both lives in the New Zealand amateur billiards championship today. In the evening session, A. Twohill (West Coast) was in fine form all round the table to beat A. Albertson (Auckland) by toe clear margin of 509-297. Twohill has won the New Zealand title six times in the last eight years, and Albertson has held it three times between 1933 and 1958. Results were:—
Twu-lifers: H. Robinson (Wellington) 445 (breaks 45. 45 30. 33. 61) beat B. Kirkness (Canterbury) 389 (30): W Harcourt (Wellington) 438 (44, 34. 41, 32) beat E. Simons (Canterbury) 425 (29. 48. 73); A. Twohill (West Coast) 509 (64. 58. 46. 38) beat A. Albertson (Auckland) 295 (30).
One-lifers: P. Murphy (Wellington) 394 (31, 48, 43) beat S. Moffit (North Otago) 316. „
