FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression centred over the Tasman Sea to the west of Taranaki is moving slowly east, while a large anti-cyclone centred just east of the Chatham Island moves slowly away. Forecast:— Canterbury.—North-east winds, fresh in some exposed coastal areas, otherwise light to moderate, becoming mainly overcast; moderate day temperatures. Outlook: some rain likely. Marlborough and Nelson.—Fresh north-easter-lies on the Kaikoura coast, otherwise mainly moderate winds from a northerly quarter, becoming overcast; some light rain likely later in the day, especially in more western areas; moderate day temperatures. Outlook: some rain likely. West Coast.—Moderate to fresh north-east winds; cloudy; occasional rain developing; moderate temperatures. Outlook: some rain likely. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
