‘Window’ In Hong Kong

(N Z.P.A MELBOURNE, August 9

Hong Kong was one of the world’s biggest “shop windows” and Australia should waste no time in displaying more products there, Mr Yan Man said in Melbourne yesterday. Mr Yan is leader of an eight-man trade mission from Hong Kong sponsored by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association, which represents 1300 manufacturing organisations.

Mr Yan said that Hong Kong hoped for an immediate rapid expansion of reciprocal trade. Wheat, flour, leather, canned foods, meat and dairy products were the main items on Hong Kong’s Australian shopping list. By improving trade with Hong Kong, Australia could offset a substantial part of trade losses that might follow if Britain joined the European Common Market, he said.
