MUDLARK DAY
Plans For Meeting Riccarton will be at its muddiest and slushiest today, but unless there is a downpour early this morning, the Canterbury Jockey Club will go on with its Grand National meeting. A decision to carry on was made by members of the committee of the club yesterday. The club decided to race after an inspection of a waterlogged track, and after consulting the meteorological office. Heavy rain is not expected, and a slow improvement is hoped for. The outside enclosure will not be open to the public today; It will be used as a public car park. The usual space for public parking will not be open, but private motorists will be allowed to use the driveways. The admittance fee for the one enclosure today will be 5s as against the normal charge of 7s for the inside enclosure. , Public cars will enter by the main gates on Racecourse road. As parking will be more difficult than usual, motorists are asked to obey the instructions of traffic officers today.
