RETIRING AFTER 40 YEARS
Much-Travelled Public Servant A man who has been transferred more than once every two years tor nearly 40 years is to retire on August 31. He is Mr J. T. Rothwell, administration officer for the Ministry of Works at Mangakino. During his career with the Ministry of Works Mr Rothwell has served in 24 places and in many branches of the administration division. He is widely known in the Public Service. Bom at Dillmanstown, near Kumara, Mr Rothwell was educated at the Hokitika High School, and joined the Ministry of Works as a clerical cadet at Greymouth In March, 1921. Seven months
later he wm transferred to the Christchurch office, from there being transferred to Wellington, Stratford. Hamilton, Wellington (head office), Okaihau, Kaitaia. Whangarei, Gordonton, Hamilton, Gerri onion, Greymouth, Aniseed. Kaikoura. Ohakea, Napier, Wellington, Auckland, Hamilton. Mangere. Greymouth, Wellington, and Mangakino. In 1943 he was senior accounts clerk at Napier, and in 1947 senior accounts clerk at Auckland, He was chief clerk at Mangere in 1949 and accountant at Wellington in 1954. In 1955 he went to Wellington head office, where he was industrial officer until promoted to inspector in 1958, He was promoted to administration officer at Mangakino later in 1958. and has remained there ever since. Mr Rothwell married in 1934. when he was stationed at Gordonton, near Hamilton. Nineteen days later he was transferred to Greymouth.
