Weaker Trend (NZ. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY. August 9. Share prices were mostly weaker on the Sydney Stock Exchange this week, the exchange reported today. The ordinary share price index moved down from 306.08 to 303.9 Q and closed at 30148 on Ttieoday. The exchange was closed on Monday for the bank holiday. B. eased at the week’s close, with the rights coming under selling pressure. C. recovered to £6B. Deposit and Investment, and Australian Guarantee Corporation both announced very favourable results, but these had been anticipated by the market. Banks* Good Results Commercial Bank of Australia and the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney also announced surprisingly good results. General Industries jumped from 14s to 20s on rumours of a link with John Mcllwraith. but a denial from both parties pushed General Industries back to 15s. Newcastle Broadcasting and Television’s 10s shares paid to 5s have reacted from as high as 13s 9d to 10s 6d. When listed about a fortnight ago this stock recorded first sales at 7s 9d and Bs. , Four stocks were added to the list this week. Phillies Oil Products ranged from 7s to 5s lid when first listed and has settled around 6s Bd, Derrin Bros, sold at 10s 6d and Broken Hill Holdings at 6s 9d. Country Television’s 5s shares paid to 2s 6d had a wide market of buyer 2s 6d. seller 5s 6d. Tekau Dividend.—Tekau Knitwear. Ltd, will pay a final ordinary dividend of 5 per cent, making a steady 9 per cent, for the year. With the final 2} per cent, preference dividend, the ordinary dividend is payable on September 29.—(P.A.) Lane, Walker, Rudkin.— Shares will be ex the final dividend of 6 per cent, on August 26.
